Do we need to consult with a neonatologist (newborn specialist) or a pediatric surgeon to cure lung rupture?
If the baby has symptoms or requires aspiration, drainage tube placement, or extra oxygen, a neonatologist is often involved in the care. Babies that are just breathing a bit fast or have no symptoms are often watched in newborn nursery by the pediatrician. It is rare that a surgeon or surgery is needed.
